Stock Register metal fabrication software replaces all of this with one simple application. Create Bills of Materials for every fabricated assembly, raise production orders that auto-track steel and raw material consumption, record job work with cutting, welding, and surface treatment contractors, track multi-godown stock from raw material to dispatch, and generate GST invoices — all from your Android mobile or laptop.
Built for Metal Fabrication
From steel BOM to job work tracking to GST billing — every feature is designed for how fabrication businesses actually operate in India.
Every fabricated product — a structural steel column, a conveyor frame, a storage rack, a machine guard, a pressure vessel component — has a specific Bill of Materials listing all the steel sections, plates, pipes, fittings, electrodes, bolts, nuts, and consumables needed. In metal fabrication, BOM quantities are typically in kg (for structural steel), metres (for pipes and profiles), or pieces (for fasteners and hardware). Stock Register lets you create a detailed BOM for every product and assembly you fabricate. Once created, every production order for that assembly automatically calculates total material requirements and checks your godown stock before production begins.
Metal fabrication in India is deeply dependent on job work. Plasma cutting and laser cutting are often outsourced to specialist shops. Heat treatment is done by licensed furnace operators. Powder coating and galvanizing are outsourced to surface treatment plants. Precision machining is done by CNC job shops. Each of these stages involves sending your material or semi-finished components to an external contractor, getting them processed, and receiving them back. Without a system to track this, material leakage at job worker premises is a major hidden cost. Stock Register's job work module records every issue (delivery challan) and every receipt, maintaining a real-time outstanding balance per job worker. If a cutting contractor has been holding your material for 20 days without returning cut parts, the system flags it immediately.
Metal fabrication raw material management is primarily weight-based (kg for structural steel) and length-based (metres for pipes and profiles). MS plates are tracked in kg, TMT bars in kg, ERW pipes in metres and kg, angles and channels in kg. Consumables like welding electrodes, grinding discs, and cutting gases are tracked separately. Stock Register supports all of these units and lets you configure each material in the appropriate unit of measurement. A raw material yard report shows current stock of MS plates (thickness-wise), pipe inventory (OD and schedule-wise), structural sections, and hardware — giving you an accurate material position before you commit to a new fabrication job.
A metal fabrication job moves through multiple production stages: raw material marking and cutting, tacking and welding, weld inspection and NDT, grinding and finishing, surface treatment (painting or coating), and final inspection and dispatch. Stock Register's production orders track raw material consumption at the point of order confirmation, while the job work module tracks each external processing stage. The result is complete traceability from raw material issue to finished fabricated assembly dispatch — including which materials went into which customer's job, which contractors processed it, and what the total material cost was.
Steel prices in India fluctuate with global commodity markets. A fabrication business that does not track its purchase price history has no leverage when negotiating with suppliers on repeat orders. Stock Register records every steel purchase with the supplier name, material specification, quantity, price per kg or metre, and GST amount. You can raise purchase orders (POs) to suppliers and track material received against each PO. At month-end, purchase reports show total steel procured, supplier-wise, price-wise, and material-wise — giving you data for cost negotiation and material planning.
Metal fabricated products fall under HSN Chapter 73 (articles of iron or steel) of India's GST tariff. Most fabricated structural steel products and metal components are taxed at 18% GST. Steel raw material purchases also carry 18% input GST, which can be offset against output tax on sales — managing this ITC correctly is critical for cash flow in fabrication businesses. Stock Register lets you configure the HSN code and GST rate per product. Sales invoices generate with correct GST. Purchase bills are entered in the same system. GSTR-1 and GSTR-2 reports are generated at month-end, ready for filing. Delivery challans for materials sent to job workers are also generated from the system, compliant with GST job work rules.
How It Works
From raw steel in your yard to fabricated assembly dispatched to customer — every stage tracked automatically.
Define steel plates, pipes, sections, electrodes, and hardware by kg/metre/piece for every fabricated assembly you manufacture. Set HSN code and GST rate per product. Done once — reused for every production order for that product.
Create a production order linked to the customer's order. System deducts raw material from godown. Record job work challans when material goes to cutting, welding, or surface treatment contractors. Track receipt when processed components return.
Create a GST invoice for the customer with correct Chapter 73 HSN code and 18% GST in under a minute. Download GSTR-1 at month-end. Full job-wise material, job work, and cost history available for every customer order.
